Chemistry 111 - A Brief History of Chemistry 101
Chemistry 111 - A Brief History of Chemistry 101What is Chemistry 111? Is it the same as Chemistry 110? What is all the fuss about? There are many different definitions of Chemistry. Chemistry 111 is a new course offered by the California Polytechnic State University. It is an introductory course in the area of Chemistry which will introduce students to the fundamentals of Chemistry with an emphasis on solid state chemistry.A student who enrolls in Chemistry 111 will learn about bonds, bonding reactions, acid and base, ionic bonding, and new developments in ion exchange. Solid state chemistry will also be discussed. Students will learn about solid molecules, solids, liquids, gases, and solids. To emphasize the new, exciting study of solid chemistry, chemistry will be introduced as part of a larger science course.Another way to say this is that chemistry is about atoms and molecules in addition to concepts of chemistry. The elements that are included in the course are atomic numbers of the four elements that can exist in nature; element number one, element number two, element number three, and element number four. Those studying Chemistry 111 should be able to differentiate between the first three elements and the fourth element. The concepts in Chemistry 111 will encompass all of the reactions between atoms and will cover a variety of different metals and their properties. Students will also learn about gas molecules and gases. Students will learn about matter and the various kinds of matter including liquids, solids, and gases. They will be introduced to the measurement of the various types of matter. They will be introduced to the various reaction relationships between compounds, and organic chemistry. Organic chemistry is the study of the reactions between molecules of carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, and sulfur and how these elements combine to form certain types of compounds. This is a very exciting course, as it will introducestudents to the art of synthesis, and t hus may be a great subject for a project or class project. In addition to learning about compounds, solids, and gases, students will learn about liquids, solids, and gases. They will learn about the different types of solids and liquids. They will also learn about combustion, viscosity, cooling, and enthalpy. Students will learn about magnets, ferromagnetism, and magnetism.Chemistry 111 is a high-level introductory course to the study of pure matter and reaction by means of solid state materials. It provides the basics in the areas of atom and molecule formation, solid state reactions, and the combination of these atoms to form liquids, solids, and gases.
